The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 of 31

The Book of Proverbs

Chapter 5

¹ My child, be attentive to my wisdom: incline your ear to my understanding,² so that you may hold on to prudence, and your lips may guard knowledge.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verses 1 to 2)

Oh God, my Father You give us knowledge of the Good News of the Kingdom not only to proclaim it but also to defend it. I pray for this knowledge, my God and Father Amen.

³ For the lips of a loose woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil; ⁴ but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verses 3 to 4)

Oh God, my Father it is wise for us to be careful in what we say and even more how we make certain declarations, for we can easily be judged and misinterpreted Amen. I pray that we speak the truth and nothing but the truth Amen.

⁵ Her feet go down to death; her steps follow the path to Sheol.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verse 5)

Oh God, my Father, I pray that You make me more aware of such negative people so that both my body and my soul will be protected. Amen.

⁶ She does not keep straight to the path of life; her ways wander, and she does not know it.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verse 6)

Many times oh God my Father we are alienated by the world and our ways become crooked sinful and end up leading us to sin. I pray that You illuminate my mind so that I am able to make the right choices that keep me on the right way leading to Salvation Amen.

⁷ And now, my child, listen to me, and do not depart from the words of my mouth.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verse 7)

Amen God my Father I pray that I will always be on the same wavelength as You. I will glue my ear to Your mouth so that I will not lose one single word Amen.

⁸ Keep your way far from her, and do not go near the door of her house; ⁹ or you will give your honour to others and your years to the merciless, ¹⁰ and strangers will take their fill of your wealth, and your labors will go to the house of an alien; ¹¹ and at the end of your life you will groan when your flesh and body are consumed, ¹² and you say, "Oh, how I hated discipline, and my heart despised reproof!

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verses 8 to 12)

Oh God my Father when we risk dealing in sinful acts, we can experience great harm. Our life will change from one of peace and order to one of sadness and chaos for which we will experience much sorrow and regret Amen.

¹³ I did not listen to the voice of my teachers or incline my ear to my instructors. ¹⁴ Now I am at the point of utter ruin in the public assembly."

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verses 13 to 14)

Oh God, my Father, I thank You for providing me with wise and talented people by whom You give me great counsel that aids my growth on many levels. I pray to always be humble to listen to their feedback Amen and accept it as if coming from You. Amen.

¹⁵ Drink water from your own cistern, flowing water from your own well.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verses 15)

Oh God, my Father I pray that I always remain plugged in our relationship with You. May I learn to love and cherish our relationship. May I never thirst for You Amen.

¹⁶ Should your springs be scattered abroad streams of water in the streets? ¹⁷ Let them be for yourself alone, and not for sharing with strangers.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verses 16 to 17)

Oh God, my Father, You are my source of water. I pray that Your water will always satisfy my thirst and may it never go to waste as a consequence of disobedience from our side. I pray to cherish my relationship with You even though I share my prayers with many other Amen.

¹⁸ Let your fountain be blessed and rejoice in the wife of your youth, ¹⁹ a lovely deer, a graceful doe. May her breasts satisfy you at all times; may you be intoxicated always by her love.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verses 18 to 19)

Oh God, my Father You are more blessed than blessed. May we always draw water out of You and may we get drunk through Your waters Amen.

²⁰ Why should you be intoxicated, my son, by another woman and embrace the bosom of an adulteress?

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verse 20)

Oh, brothers and sisters, we need to be aware of ourselves for life can easily intoxicate us and alienate us into living a form of life-style that is not according to Your will Amen.

²ⁱ For human ways are under the eyes of the LORD, and he examines all their paths.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verse 21)

Oh, brothers and sisters do not fear or be disappointed by events that take place in life for God is in control of all the details of our lives, even the smallest ones that appear to be insignificant Amen.

²² The iniquities of the wicked ensnare them, and they are caught in the toils of their sin. ²³ They die for lack of discipline, and because of their great folly they are lost.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verses 22 to 23)

Oh God, my Father may those who plan sinful actions for others repent from doing so. May this be a time of justice and not of corruption and abuse. Due to this virus, many are ending up without their former jobs. I pray that You take control of this negative situation Amen.

Oh God, my Father, I would like to end this meditation on the fifth chapter of the Book of Proverbs with the following prayer:-

Oh God, my Father may I have a never-ending thirst for You and all the knowledge and graces and love that flow from You. May You keep me and protect us from all evil and may we always look upon You as our God and Father Amen.
