The Book of Proverbs Chapter 6 of 31 (To update)

The Book of Proverbs

Chapter 6

¹ My child, if you have given your pledge to your neighbor, if you have bound yourself to another, ² you are snared by the utterance of your lips, caught by the words of your mouth.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 6 verse 1 to 2)

Oh God my Father when I gave my word to my wife in Your presence I became bound by such a pledge. Even though today I am legally separated by the rulers of the world before You I am still married. I cannot go back from the word that I gave Amen. Even though I live in a state of separation I still feel bound by my words Amen.

³ So do this, my child, and save yourself, for you have come into your neighbors power; go, hurry, and plead with your neighbor.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 6 verse 3)

Oh God, my Father I have apologised to my wife and my daughter, I have explained the reason compelling me to behave in the way I did, however, I have found no mercy on this earth from humans. Therefore I do not look for mercy from humans but only from You my God and Father Amen.

⁴ Give your eyes no sleep and your eyelids no slumber; ⁵ save yourself like a gazelle from the hunter, like a bird from the hand of the fowler.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 6 verses 4 to 5)

Oh, brothers and sisters, may it be that we are always found ready to answer to the call of God our Father. May we be always ready to obey even if this calls for obedience and going against our own will Amen.

⁶ Go to the ant, you lazybones; consider its ways, and be wise. ⁷ Without having any chief or officer or ruler, ⁸ it prepares its food in summer, and gathers its sustenance in harvest.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 6 verses 6 to 8)

Oh God if we were to look at Your creation we would learn big lessons of survival and not end up in the life crises that we are experiencing. Give us this knowledge and motivation to learn my God and Father Amen.

⁹ How long will you lie there, O lazybones? when will you rise from your sleep?

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 6 verse 9)

Oh brothers and sisters how long can we remain in our bubble of alienation in a material world that constantly encourages to lead a life that is Godless, where the only rule or authority is ourselves. When are we going to wake up and realize that we are just a creation subject to the one and only God our Father Amen.

¹⁰ A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, ¹¹ and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want, like an armed warrior.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 6 verses 10 to 11)

Oh brothers and sisters if we start becoming lax in our way of life slowly we will be overcome by a feeling of apathy and we will be demotivated to even raise up our hands in prayer and thanksgiving let alone in working for our daily bread as You wish us to Amen. Therefore let us be armed and ready against the enemy who tries to achieve a victory over us Amen.

¹² A scoundrel and a villain goes around with crooked speech, ¹³ winking the eyes, shuffling the feet pointing the fingers, ¹⁴ with perverted mind devising evil, continually sowing discord ¹⁵ on such a one calamity will descend suddenly; in a moment damage beyond repair.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 6 verses 12 to 15)

Oh God my Father when we decide to take control of our lives and eliminating You completely the evil one takes over and makes a complete mess out of that person's life. However, You always try to encourage us to turn back by giving us many signs and by permitting us to meet people chosen by You to help us get back on the road to holiness and salvation Amen.

¹⁶ There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 6 verse 16)

Oh God my Father kindly continue to teach me those things that are not to your liking so that I can live my life according to Your will Amen.

¹⁷ haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, ¹⁸ a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that hurry to run to evil, ¹⁹ a lying witness who testifies falsely, and one who sows discord in a family.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 6 verse 17 to 19)

Oh God my Father I pray that You keep me aware of myself so that when I start changing and adopting these negative traits You raise the red flag so that I will get back on track Amen. For us humans its very easy to sin and loose the way my God and Father for we are weak beings. Amen.

²⁰ My child, keep your father's commandment and do not forsake your mother's teaching.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 6 verse 20)

Oh God my only true and loving Father, Your Bible is a manual for my life. You are both a mother and a Father to me. I pray that Your Word and the message of the Good News are inscribed for life both in my mind and in my heart Amen.

²¹ Bind them upon your heart always; tie them around your neck.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 6 verse 21)

Oh God my Father this is why I always keep my pocket Bible with me, for You are always close to me to deliver Your message of wisdom in every situation Amen.

The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 of 31

The Book of Proverbs

Chapter 5

¹ My child, be attentive to my wisdom: incline your ear to my understanding,² so that you may hold on to prudence, and your lips may guard knowledge.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verses 1 to 2)

Oh God, my Father You give us knowledge of the Good News of the Kingdom not only to proclaim it but also to defend it. I pray for this knowledge, my God and Father Amen.

³ For the lips of a loose woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil; ⁴ but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verses 3 to 4)

Oh God, my Father it is wise for us to be careful in what we say and even more how we make certain declarations, for we can easily be judged and misinterpreted Amen. I pray that we speak the truth and nothing but the truth Amen.

⁵ Her feet go down to death; her steps follow the path to Sheol.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verse 5)

Oh God, my Father, I pray that You make me more aware of such negative people so that both my body and my soul will be protected. Amen.

⁶ She does not keep straight to the path of life; her ways wander, and she does not know it.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verse 6)

Many times oh God my Father we are alienated by the world and our ways become crooked sinful and end up leading us to sin. I pray that You illuminate my mind so that I am able to make the right choices that keep me on the right way leading to Salvation Amen.

⁷ And now, my child, listen to me, and do not depart from the words of my mouth.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verse 7)

Amen God my Father I pray that I will always be on the same wavelength as You. I will glue my ear to Your mouth so that I will not lose one single word Amen.

⁸ Keep your way far from her, and do not go near the door of her house; ⁹ or you will give your honour to others and your years to the merciless, ¹⁰ and strangers will take their fill of your wealth, and your labors will go to the house of an alien; ¹¹ and at the end of your life you will groan when your flesh and body are consumed, ¹² and you say, "Oh, how I hated discipline, and my heart despised reproof!

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verses 8 to 12)

Oh God my Father when we risk dealing in sinful acts, we can experience great harm. Our life will change from one of peace and order to one of sadness and chaos for which we will experience much sorrow and regret Amen.

¹³ I did not listen to the voice of my teachers or incline my ear to my instructors. ¹⁴ Now I am at the point of utter ruin in the public assembly."

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verses 13 to 14)

Oh God, my Father, I thank You for providing me with wise and talented people by whom You give me great counsel that aids my growth on many levels. I pray to always be humble to listen to their feedback Amen and accept it as if coming from You. Amen.

¹⁵ Drink water from your own cistern, flowing water from your own well.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verses 15)

Oh God, my Father I pray that I always remain plugged in our relationship with You. May I learn to love and cherish our relationship. May I never thirst for You Amen.

¹⁶ Should your springs be scattered abroad streams of water in the streets? ¹⁷ Let them be for yourself alone, and not for sharing with strangers.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verses 16 to 17)

Oh God, my Father, You are my source of water. I pray that Your water will always satisfy my thirst and may it never go to waste as a consequence of disobedience from our side. I pray to cherish my relationship with You even though I share my prayers with many other Amen.

¹⁸ Let your fountain be blessed and rejoice in the wife of your youth, ¹⁹ a lovely deer, a graceful doe. May her breasts satisfy you at all times; may you be intoxicated always by her love.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verses 18 to 19)

Oh God, my Father You are more blessed than blessed. May we always draw water out of You and may we get drunk through Your waters Amen.

²⁰ Why should you be intoxicated, my son, by another woman and embrace the bosom of an adulteress?

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verse 20)

Oh, brothers and sisters, we need to be aware of ourselves for life can easily intoxicate us and alienate us into living a form of life-style that is not according to Your will Amen.

²ⁱ For human ways are under the eyes of the LORD, and he examines all their paths.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verse 21)

Oh, brothers and sisters do not fear or be disappointed by events that take place in life for God is in control of all the details of our lives, even the smallest ones that appear to be insignificant Amen.

²² The iniquities of the wicked ensnare them, and they are caught in the toils of their sin. ²³ They die for lack of discipline, and because of their great folly they are lost.

(The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5 verses 22 to 23)

Oh God, my Father may those who plan sinful actions for others repent from doing so. May this be a time of justice and not of corruption and abuse. Due to this virus, many are ending up without their former jobs. I pray that You take control of this negative situation Amen.

Oh God, my Father, I would like to end this meditation on the fifth chapter of the Book of Proverbs with the following prayer:-

Oh God, my Father may I have a never-ending thirst for You and all the knowledge and graces and love that flow from You. May You keep me and protect us from all evil and may we always look upon You as our God and Father Amen.

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verses 3 to 4)

Oh God, my beloved Father, when You gave us the commandments and teachings that are found in the New Testament they were intended to guidelines to lead a holy life and not a sinful one that leads to spiritual and physical death Amen. Therefore for all of us who would like to live life as You planned it, the Bible is our manual Amen.

⁵ Get wisdom; get insight; do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verse 5)

Oh God, my beloved Father, I pray for more and more of Your wisdom and even practical knowledge so that my decisions are based on Your prompting and not only from human intellect. I pray for the presence of Your Holy Spirit who enlightens me especially during moments of need on my behalf and more on that of my clients and significant others Amen.

⁶ Do not forsake her, and she will keep you; love her and she will guard you.

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verse 6)

Oh God, I pray that You make of me a wise person, who always refers to Your wisdom in every circumstance of life, may you always be my reference point. I strongly believe that You abandon nobody and that it is us mortals who at time abandon You due to our weak and sinful nature Amen. I pray for the Wisdom of Your Holy Spirit. Amen.

⁷ The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom and whatever else you get, get insight.

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verse 7)

Oh God how beautiful we are when we start using our brains, our God-given intelligence, especially when our objective is that of being of help and service to others Amen. Oh God, my Father, You told us to be wise like the serpent and gentle as the dove. I pray that we learn to use our intelligence in a positive way Amen.

⁸ Prize her highly, and she will exalt you; she will honour you if you embrace her.

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verse 8)

Oh God, my Father, if we would only learn to treasure the wisdom that is found in the Bible, the Book that contains the Good News, that the world cannot give Amen.

⁹ She will place on your head a fair garland; she will bestow on you a beautiful crown."

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verse 9)

Oh God, my beloved Father, in You I have found the greatest of friends, lover of lovers, tower of refuge and support. My life has completely changed since the day You chose to have a relationship with me. I thank You my, God and Father Amen.

¹⁰ Hear my child and accept my words, that the years of your life may be many.

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verse 10)

Oh God my Father to listen to Your Word in this era of many words and voices is already a great challenge, to accept You and Your Word as being the only truth and Your will unfolding is another thing. I pray that You strengthen our faith, my God and Father Amen.

¹¹ I have taught you the way of wisdom; I have led you in the paths of uprightness.

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verse 11)

Oh God, my beloved Father, You are indeed a Father to me. From the day I was born to the present and future days, You have been guiding me in Your ways. You have been assisting me in the decisions that I needed to make throughout the years. I thank you for being always by my side even though at times I did not experience Your presence. Amen.

¹² When you walk your step will not be hampered; and if you run, you will not stumble.

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verse 12)

Oh God my beloved Father as You know I have a bad habit of rushing into situations, and that at times I am very emotional. I pray that You keep me under Your control and that You keep on guiding me in my day to day decisions Amen.

¹³ Keep hold of instruction; do not let go; guard her, for she is your life.

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verse 13)

Oh God, my blessed Father every time I am in prayer You teach me something new that strengthens my soul. This is why I cannot live without meditating on Your Word, the entire Bible. I love it so much that I wish it will always be alive in me Amen.

¹⁴ Do not enter the path of the wicked and do not walk in the way of evildoers.

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verse 14)

Oh God, my Father, this is no easy task to undertake for I still am human and many times the evil one gets the best of me and I am so weak that I willfully accept the temptation. My greatest moment of weakness is during prayer time when I am online. I pray for You support during such moments Amen. Thanks, Jesus.

¹⁵ Avoid it; do not go on it; turn away from it and pass on.

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verse 15)

Oh God my Father, by means of this verse You are giving me many options from which to choose when harassed by temptation;

The first option is to avoid, however, this does not mean to deny that it is not there, to avoid is to be aware of the evil so much as to make a willful choice not to take the option.

The second is a direct command and not a choice. It is not enough to avoid but to make a willful choice to decide not to follow the ways of evil, on my own I may not be strong enough, however with Your power and grace this is possible.

Turn away from it; this is also a command, now that Your and my will is determined not to follow evil but set on doing good just do it and go out of that sinful website, just do it!

Pass on, now that we are strong in spirit and our will is positively conditioned to do good and avoid evil we can raise up our eyes towards heaven and pass on. Amen.

¹⁶ For they cannot sleep unless they have done wrong; they are robbed of sleep unless they have made someone stumble.

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verse 16)

Oh God, my beloved Father, there are people who like myself at the present moment are finding it hard to sleep, while there are others who obtain their rest only when they have made the lives of others a mess or a living hell. I pray for both the victims and even the perpetrators Amen.

¹⁷ For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence. ¹⁸ But the path of the righteous is like the light of the dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verse 17 to 18)

Oh God my Father, when we aim to fulfil negative actions, we end up facing the consequences of such actions and rightly so for our intention was not good from the beginning Amen.

¹⁹ The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what they stumble over.

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verse 19)

Oh God, my Father, brothers and sisters how precious is God's light and his ways. When we shut our minds and hearts to His ways we end up in pitch darkness, so dark that we no longer know where we are or where we are heading for. We get mixed up even in our perception and awareness and we end up not even being able to recognize good acts from bad ones. I pray that we be always guided by Your ways my God and Father Amen.

²⁰ My child, be attentive to my words; incline your ears to my sayings. ²¹ Do not let them escape from your sight; keep them within your heart.

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verses 20 to 21)

Oh God, my Father, I will process every word You mean to tell me. I will treasure them like gold coins and keep them in the treasure chest of my heart under lock and key.

²² For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh.

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verse 22)

Oh God, my Father, Your words are the medicine that heals both the body and the soul, so much that I cannot live without them. I pray that You or others never deny me of the opportunity to reflect on Your Holy Words Amen.

²³ Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the spring of life.

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verse 23)

Oh, my beloved counsellor, Your words are always true. Keeping check of my emotions is very important for I still have hurts that You are healing me of. I pray that You help me in keeping control over myself Amen.

²⁴ Put away from your crooked speech, and put devious talk far from you.

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verse 24)

Father of love truth and honesty, You would like us to be likewise in our daily interactions. May the truth be always on our lips, even if saying the truth may get us into trouble. The truth sets us free Amen.

²⁵ Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verse 25)

Oh God, my Father, I pray that we always look forward and proceed ahead instead of being stuck in our past that may be holding us from moving ahead in our lives. God has forgiven us from all of our sins. He has permitted us to crucify Him to obtain our redemption. Now that God has forgiven us it is time for us to forgive ourselves Amen

²⁶ Keep straight the path of your feet, and all your ways will be sure. ²⁷ Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.

(Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verse 26)

Oh God, my Father, I pray that we keep our focus on You even if the stressors of life, try to hinder us from walking according to Your ways. May we be aware of negative forces and cultures that make our lives challenging to live. May we be aware of the effect of the media and of peer pressure especially when it comes to making important decisions Amen

Oh God, my Father, I would like to end this meditation on the fourth chapter of the book of Proverbs with the following prayer:-

Oh God, my Father I pray for the ability to see like You, think like You and also behave like You. I pray that You make me aware of the evil spirits that are always ready to cause me harm by persuading me to walk according to the ways of the world Amen. I pray that You protect the world from such evil forces Amen
